The
Eurailpass allows you
unlimited travel to 17 countries – Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland,
France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway,
Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Unlike the
Europass, you are allowed 5 consecutive days of travel within a certain
amount of time. It ranges from 15 days to 3 months of unlimited traveling
time. The Rail Protector Plan is an additional $14-$17 – if your pass is
lost/stolen, you will be reimbursed for the unused portion of it.
The
Eurailpass Flexi is the
same as the regular
Eurailpass except that it provides different traveling
duration. The choices for the
Eurailpass Flexi are either 10 travel days or
15 travel days within 2 months. This provides more days the
Europass – but
it’s also almost twice as expensive.
The
Eurailpass Saver requires
that a minimum of 2 people travel together simultaneously. The maximum is 5
people. This provides 15 or 21 consecutive travel days or 1-3 months
unlimited travel. The Rail Protection Plan is also available.
The
Eurailpass SaverFlexi also
requires 2-5 people. This provides 10 days of travel over the course of 1
month or 15 days over the course of two months. All parties must travel
together. The Rail Protection Plan is also available.
The
Eurailpass Youth is a
discounted fare for people under 26 years old. This provides 15 or 21
consecutive travel days or 1-3 months unlimited travel. The Rail Protection
Plan is also available.
The
Eurailpass YouthFlexi is
basically the
Eurailpass Flexi at a discounted rate for people under 26
years old. The Rail Protection Plan is also available.
The EurailDrive pass allows
for 4 days of train travel and 2 days of car rental with unlimited mileage
within 2 months. Additional days will cost extra ranging from $46-$89
depending on the type of car you rent.
Another option for travel in Europe is the single country Eurail pass. This
provides unlimited travel within one country. This may be a more viable
option if you plan on traveling within one country and the traveling is
expensive. For example, in the United Kingdom, everything is more expensive,
so it may be wise to purchase a Eurail pass if you plan to explore the UK.
However, if you’re in Italy, train fare is pretty cheap, so purchasing a
Eurail pass might cost you more than just buying separate tickets.
